Richie Foster, Fix-It Right Plumbing

Plumbers in Richmond, Abbotsford, Cremorne and Fitzroy

Richmond and the inner-city suburbs around it are dense, historic and always busy, a mix of old terraces, converted warehouses and new apartments. We work across Richmond, Abbotsford, Cremorne and Fitzroy, and inner-city plumbing has its own character.

Over the last two years we've done around 100 jobs in the Richmond area. Blocked drains are the most common, which fits tightly-packed older housing with original pipework and not much room to work. The terraces here are among Melbourne's oldest, many Victorian-era.

In old inner-city streets, a blocked drain is often about the age and condition of the pipes as much as anything else, roots get into aging joints, and decades of use take their toll. We find out what's actually causing a blockage rather than just clearing it, which matters most where the pipework is this old.

Whatever the job, from a blocked drain to a hidden leak or a hot water system, we fix the cause, not just the symptom. That's been the Fix-It Right way since Richie started the business in 2007.

The same plumber, start to finish

The plumber who comes out and works out what's wrong is the one who fixes it, and he stays with your job from start to finish until it's done properly, top to bottom. We don't send one person to look and another to do the work, and we never pull your plumber off your job to chase the next call. Not many plumbing companies anywhere are that strict about it, and it's why the job gets done right the first time.

Richmond plumbing questions

My Richmond terrace is really old, is the plumbing a worry?

It's worth understanding rather than worrying about. Many Richmond and Fitzroy terraces are Victorian-era with original or patched-up pipework, which can be prone to leaks and blockages. We use leak detection and drain cameras to see exactly what's going on before we start, so there's no unnecessary digging in a tight inner-city block.

Why do drains block around Richmond?

In old inner-city streets it's usually the age of the pipes, roots getting into aging joints, and years of use. We camera the drain and find out what's actually behind a blockage, so we fix the real problem rather than just clearing it.

Who's my water authority in Richmond?

Greater Western Water covers Richmond, Abbotsford, Cremorne and Fitzroy. If the issue is at the meter or the street connection, that's their responsibility, and we'll help you work out what's yours and what's theirs.

How quickly can you get to Richmond?

The inner city is a regular patch, so Richmond, Abbotsford, Cremorne and Fitzroy are well covered, along with Collingwood and Fitzroy North.

Do you work in apartments and converted warehouses around Richmond?

Yes, plenty. The area has a lot of apartments and warehouse conversions with their own plumbing quirks and shared systems. We're used to working in them and sorting the problems that come up.
