That smell of gas when you're near the stove, or out by the meter, puts everyone on edge straight away, and it should. You start thinking about the kids, the house, whether it's safe to still be standing there. If it's strong and you're worried, turning the gas off at the meter is sensible if you can do it safely, then get us on the phone. We treat gas leaks as a priority and we won't leave you wondering.
Other times there's no smell at all, just a gas bill that's climbed for no reason you can see. That's often a leak hiding underground or inside a wall, quietly costing you money. Either way we find exactly where it's going and fix the cause, whether it's a corroded line, a perished regulator seal, or an install that was never done right.
A gas line doesn't leak for no reason. The pipe has corroded, a regulator seal has perished, or the install was never done right in the first place. Tighten a fitting and leave the reason, and the next leak is already on its way. So we do both: we find exactly where the gas is going and fix it properly, then we deal with why it happened. Fixed for good, not fixed for now.
Some gas leaks are obvious: the smell near the stove, a heater or the meter, or a hiss from a pipe or fitting. Others hide. A line under the floor, inside a wall or underground can leak for months, and the signs are quieter: a gas bill that's climbed when your use hasn't, a patch of grass or garden that's died off over where the pipe runs, or bubbles in a puddle when it hasn't rained. If you can smell it, we'll go straight to it. If you can't, we'll test the line and track it down.
Most gas leaks come down to one of three things. Corroded pipe: older steel gas lines under floors, inside walls and in the ground rust from the outside wherever damp gets to them, until a pinhole opens up. Perished regulator seals: the seals in a regulator dry out and crack with age, and gas gets past them. And installs that were never done right: joints that weren't sealed properly, the wrong fittings, or pipe left unsupported or run where it gets knocked.
Here's the part that matters: those causes don't stop at one spot. If one length of pipe has corroded through, the rest of it is the same age in the same ground. If one joint was done badly, the rest of that install is worth checking. That's why we always look at why yours leaked, not just where.
Safe first. Before anything else, we make sure the gas is off where it needs to be and nobody is at risk. If you couldn't find your meter, we'll show you where it is and how to turn it off, so you know next time. And you'll know the price of the first step before we touch a thing.
We prove there's a leak. We connect a gauge and pressure test your gas line. If the pressure drops with everything off, gas is escaping somewhere, and we know for certain instead of guessing from a smell.
We find exactly where it is. This is the hard part, and it's the part that matters. We test every joint and fitting we can reach. If the leak is under the floor, inside a wall or underground, we split the line into sections and test each one until we've narrowed it to the run that's leaking, then pinpoint it, so we open up the smallest area possible instead of digging around looking for it.
We fix the cause. Corroded pipe is cut out and replaced, not wrapped and left for next time. A perished regulator seal is replaced. An install that was never done right is done properly.
We prove it's fixed. We test the line again before the gas goes back on, and we show you the gauge holding steady. Then we relight your appliances and check them.
Through all of it, you only ever face one decision at a time. You'll know what the next step costs before it starts, and nothing proceeds until you're ready.
Our rule is a simple one: we only recommend work you'll benefit from. If the leak was a one-off, a single joint or a seal, we'll fix it and that's the end of it. If your gas line is corroded, we'll show you what we found and price replacing it, the worst sections first or the whole run. And if an install was never done right, we'll show you what's wrong with it and what doing it properly costs. If we've noticed something else along the way, we'll show you that too: priced, in priority order, your call at your pace.
Finding a gas leak and fixing what caused it are two different decisions, and we price them that way: you'll never get one blurred quote covering the testing, the repair and replacing a line. Tracking down a hidden leak is priced before it starts too. Every price is agreed before work starts.
And if the repair has landed at a bad time, Fix-It Now - Pay Later spreads it over 12 months with nothing to pay.

Brady was very quick in getting back to us to solving our gas problem. The galvanised pipe from the meter had rusted and was leaking , this required several cobble stones to be lifted and soil to be dug out to uncover pipe and remove it . The pipe was rerouted and reconnected to existing gas line under the house , and extra brackets installed on pipe work enabling our supply to the hot water service & wall furnace . Cobble stones were replaced and area and debris cleaned up , I would recommend Brady & Fix it right plumbing to anybody for their prompt , polite , and professional service.

I had a gas leak so I called Fit-it-Right Plumbing and they sent out the lovely Traci who checked the meter and as it was 6.pm she promised to come out at 8am the next morning. Finding a good plumber can be really hard but I had a fantastic experience with them. I called them to cap and remove an old gas heater after several other places refused the job. Jarryd was so helpful and clearly explained everything, he did the job efficiently and also did a complimentary check of my gas water heater. I recently had the pleasure of working with Thane from Fix it Right Plumbing on some major work: a drain reline, sewer redirection, and gas line renewal. A fantastic experience with Fix It Plumbing when the generator from my gas bottles was leaking gas which I lost hot water for a few days. Had a tricky gas leak at home, had the guys come out the following morning, locate the leak and shut off that pipe, great help as it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Then got them to check a water issue whereby we had no cold water running from our kitchen tap (noting many plumbers before them looked, investigated, but did not fix), the Fix it Right guys located issue, replaced the pipe, got the water running, plus replaced the tap...great help and really appreciated the two major issues they resolved on the day (which I'm sure saved us much more $$$). We had a gas leak detected between Christmas and New years and they sent Anthony to get it sorted on the same day. Once contacted he was at our place within the he hour. At a fair price the issue was isolated solved and tested. Would recommend them any day!

The plumbing job that Thane did at my house started out as a small job checking the gas line after the gas meter was found leaking by a visitor. The explained everything and turned this visit into a complete fix it job of the water pipes into the property, new tap hardware (sheer heaven) and the sewerage from the - some of which was next door. Fixed and replaced an external water pipe. Leaking and some old adjacent pipes. Used them previously to install a new gas infinity heating system. Work done excellent, no problems, good communication, prices probably comparable but they take the hassle out of finding a reliable plumber that shows up. So far happy with their service

A great experience, the lady who answered my call was very helpful and sent Josh out same day to assist on-site with supply and installation of a new gas hot water system. Price was much more affordable than quoted by another company yesterday, in fact just over 50% cheaper - even though they provided a better and more expensive unit! Mitch was extremely professional and polite. He checked all gas heaters and plumbing and provided a quote to complete the urgent work as well as separate quotes for non urgent work. He identified and fixed a pressure issue that other plumbers have over looked in the past so we now have water pressure back to where it should be. I am delighted with the work done today and the lack of mess (which is amazing for plumbing!) and will be sure to use Fix It Right Plumbing again

A couple of months ago, Jarryd came out to install our BBQ and connect our gas. He did an amazing job and we were happy. Fast forward to present and we had issues with our BBQ. We called Fix It Right plumbing and Jarryd was able to come only 4 hours after my initial call. He found the issue with the BBQ (all manufacturer fault) but proceeded to check the gas connection as well. Jarryd spoke to his manager and we were not charged for the service, which we were wrapped about. 10/10 recommend Jarryd and the Fit It Right team. Had no gas for a month because the gas company turned it off after finding it was leaking. Phoned a few plumbers and most of them didn't show up. One from a local plumber quoted 6.5k which was outrageous. Called fix it right plumbing on Sunday and the next day they sent the lovely Jack out. Rang ahead and was on time. Found everything comforting. The job was done at a fraction of the price with the same outcome of running a new gas line under the house. I was super happy with everything. Now I can have a hot shower. I would highly recommend to anyone after a plumber

I was very happy with the service Mitch provided today. Very professional and friendly. We had a gas leak that we had been quoted $12,000 to fix by another company that would involve taking up a large portion of the garden. Had Mitch come around on time in an emergency situation. He was calm professional and did the job very fast and cleaned the place afterwards. This involved installing new gas hot water system, installing washing machine and dishwasher and testing for gas and carbon monoxide leaks. Very happy with the job. The previous plumber that came quoted almost 3 times the value for less work!!! Tnaks again Mitchel - very happy with your great and professional work.

Amazing work by Dave and Wade from Fix It Right Plumbing. I called them out initially to fix a gas leak, and their diligence in checking all of my plumbing appliances found I desperately needed a new hot water service, which Dave installed the very next day. They were friendly, professional, and had very competitive pricing, and they'll definitely be the ones I call for any further works! I also had Nathan come out in September 2022 to replace my toilet, and the mixer tap in the kitchen. The toilet couldn't be done straight away, but was booked in first thing the following day. Once again I got excellent and friendly service, professional workmanship, and competitive pricing!

We got fix-it-plumbing out to sort out a mixture of problems with a gas leak, non-working toilet and poor water pressure at our new house. Corey, their plumber, came on time (actually a day early, they had a gap open up) and spent several hours working to repair all of the problems. He did a great job as a 'plumbing detective' and didn't give up until he'd identified all the things which were causing the issues. We now have a much better house! Corey was cheery and friendly and explained everything to us that was going on. I was impressed by how much effort he went to - including making sure after the first problem was found that there was no other problems elsewhere as well. Essentially he did a full service of our gas and water plumbing. Would definitely call fix-it-plumbers again.

Called out this company because I had a gas leak. Within 24 hours I had jack come out to me. He was on time 8.00 he called me to tell me he was on his way, I was very stressed because my gas tip was not working or the hot water and this was very worrying for me because it was near christmas. Jack was very polite and helpful and after him giving me all the necessary information I went ahead with his quote. He fixed it all for me and went beyond his dirt and whilst outside found another leak which he fixed without asking me for anything more. We had Kyle out today to try to fix our gas central heating and hot water service. He found and repaired multiple gas leaks in the house and was ultimately unable to get both services going again so we had him install a new hot water service. Recommendation is to get the Brivis technician out for the central heating which we have now booked. Could not recommend Kyle highly enough.

We had Jack attend our apartment to investigate and fix a gas leak. Jack was extremely thorough, solution-oriented and helpful. He was COVID safe the entire time he was inside our apartment. He also ensured that our heating was working and checked all plumbing to make sure we had no issues, which was a very nice touch. Dave was amazing! He came to our house for a gas leak issue, however along the way identified storm water issues that we were aware of but unsure how to solve. He ended up coming back the next day and spent the day detecting blockages and leaks, and repairing these. He was extremely friendly and professional. He was transparent and honest with the work that needed to be done and helped us prioritise jobs. We were always made aware of prices before he began the job, which assisted us in knowing what we were in for. Throughout the day, he made sure he made contact with us and would explain what he had done so far and what he was going to work on next. We are very happy with the service provided by Dave! Wow, I cannot rave enough about how good Fix It Right Plumbing are... I recently purchased a new BBQ that had a conversion unit to support the use of Natural Gas, & when I connected the unit to my BBQ, the smell of gas was strong... I contacted Fix It Right Plumbing to come & problem solve the issue for me, & Jacob arrived (actually earlier than expected, including a call to ask could he come early), & he spent a good 30-40 minutes determining my issue, & as it ended up being a faulty hose, that was covered under Warranty, he showed me where the issue was & also didn't charge me, as it wasn't a problem he could actually fix. These guys are amazingly professional, responsive, on-time & they will be my only contact for any plumbing work in the future.

I had a gas leak at my home. Its a rental property. My last gas bill was double what it normally is for no apparent reason. The landlord / agent refused to send anyone out. I called Fix it Right. Brendan and Adam were fantastic. They were polite and friendly. They were on time. They spent about two hours testing the pipes and they found the leak in the stove / cooktop. They explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. The landlord eventually sent their own plumber out and he spent five minutes and said he couldn't find anything. He was using antiquated equipment whereas Brendan and Adam had all the latest gear. It just goes to show. Don't use an inferior plumber. Its just not worth it when it comes to safety. I'm still fighting with the landlord, but atleast I can sleep at night knowing the leak has been fixed. Thanks Adam and Brendan.

We had a gas leak, we had no idea to call I found these guys on google, they managed to fix the issue very quickly and also did an inspection of the house and provided optional work to fix ongoing issues, which I will be getting them to fix at later date. I would highly recommend they are very professional and explain everything, they also provide all electronic detailed report and billing not like the gumtree plumbers with hand written paper work. We engaged Fix it Right plumbing after having numerous plumbers investigate issues with our gas which cumulated in our gas being turned off which we didn't discover till past 7pm!! After contacting Fix it Right late at night (when we had no hot water or gas to cook!) they organised Daniel to come first thing the next morning! He was brilliant in explaining the options and cost involved to fix our gas issue! It was a big job but he fixed it then and there no matter the time it was going to take! A huge thanks to Arron who spent most of the day installing my mums new oven and cook top. The cook top was a bit small compared to the original, but after a quick trip to Bunnings Arron came through with some neat metal strips to fill the gaps. The end result is fantastic. On return home after a few weeks of leave I found the gas heater can't be relighted probably because i turned off the gas and the power supply or the unit being aged as it is a 1997 module. I found this local plumbing service on Google, read their history, testimonial etc then gave them a call on Monday morning. Surprisingly, I was assigned Chris to provide service on the same day. This was much quicker than I expected as I was thinking of days before anyone is free to come in. Chris called 1/2 before due to come in then he turned up on time. He listened carefully to what I have done so far and my intention on how it to be fixed if feasible. He was calm and patient as he took time to go through the procedures and potential costs one item by one item to seek consent from me before carrying out any work. He also offered all possible options with costs for me to consider and allow me to choose the one most suitable to my financial affordability and current needs without pushing to have a decision made. He carried out the work in a professional manner. After successfully changing the parts and relighting the gas heater, he checked, triple checked the pilot light while making adjustment time and time again to ensure the flame is not too small to flame out again or too much to consume extra gas unnecessarily. He was conscientious to his work and responsible for his customer to the best of his ability. In the end, he offered a courtesy check for in-house plumbing for potential issues. I was impressed with his professionalism throughout the whole process and I felt being looked after with my plumbing needs, although I have to say that the service cost works out quite dear. To be honest, I'd rather do so when someone like Chris who would put in real effort striving to repair the unit which was my preference, than getting someone or another company who just want to sell a new heater without even be willing to give it a go to fix in the first place. The cheapest gas leak is the one that's found before it costs you. If your gas line is old steel pipe, or your bill has crept up and you can't say why, having the line tested is how you find out. A faint smell right at the meter now and then can be normal. If the smell is strong or doesn't go away, turn the gas off at the meter, open the doors and windows, and don't use switches or flames. Then call us. If the smell is strong inside your home, get everyone out and call 000.
