Your bad day stops here.
Six quick questions about your unit and we’ll tell you straight. No tools, two minutes.
Repair or replace?A dead hot water system throws the whole house out, cold showers and all. Your plumber gets a new one in and running today, so the family's back to normal, and you pay nothing at all for a full 12 months. Clear it whenever suits you in that year, with no interest, no penalties and no hidden charges.
*Eligible jobs. Terms, conditions and credit approval apply.
Sound familiar? It's fixable.
You go to shower, or run the kids' bath, and it's cold. No warning. And the first thought isn't "what brand," it's "what's this going to cost me, and how long am I without it."
That's the bit we care about. We find out what's happened and what it means for you, and because we carry systems in the vans, a replacement often means same-day, not days waiting.
We're more comfortable fixing the problem than filming it, but we're trying.
Film coming soonFixed for good, not fixed for now
When your hot water stops, the easy answer is whatever unit is on the shelf that day. That's how houses end up with a cheap system that fails again in a few years, or one that's the wrong size for the people living there. We do it differently. We find out why yours stopped, tell you honestly whether it's worth repairing, and if it isn't, we fit a system from a major brand that suits your home and how you use hot water. Because we carry systems in our vans, doing it properly doesn't mean waiting.
Not sure? Your plumber will tell you on the day.
Most homes have one of five, and they fail in different ways. A storage tank, gas or electric, keeps a full tank hot all day: a leak at the base or water that never gets hot is the usual sign it's done. A continuous flow unit, usually gas and mounted on an outside wall, heats water only as you use it, so trouble shows up as water that runs hot then cold, or an error code on the panel. A heat pump draws warmth from the air like a fridge in reverse and is the cheapest electric system to run. Solar heats water from panels on your roof, with a gas or electric booster for cloudy days. Not sure which you've got? That's fine: tell us what you can see when you book, and your plumber will know at a glance.
Browse by type. Each one shows the units we fit, with the model we would put in our own home marked as Richie's Pick.
Gas, wall-mounted, heats water only as you use it. Endless hot water and nothing stored.
Richie's take: The one we fit most. Endless hot water for a busy family and it just keeps going.
Prices are given on quote.
The plumber who quotes your hot water is the one who installs it. They size it right for your household, sort any rebates, swap the old unit over and test it before they leave. No handover, no call centre, just one person who knows your job from start to finish.
Every one of our plumbers is trained and ticketed across hot water, gas, electric, heat pump and solar. Pick your area to meet the team who turn up.

Knowing why is how it stays fixed
A hot water system doesn't fail out of nowhere. Inside a storage tank, a sacrificial anode rod corrodes so the tank doesn't have to. Once the anode's gone, the tank itself starts to rust, and a leak at the base is usually the end of it. Valves wear and start to drip, elements and thermostats burn out, sediment builds up in the bottom of the tank, and gas units can lose their pilot or ignition.
Some of those are a straightforward repair: a valve, an element, a thermostat. Some aren't. A tank that's rusted through can't be patched, and it can let go without much warning. That's why age matters so much with hot water, and why we'll always tell you how old your system is and what we'd do in your shoes.
It's also why a cheap system is rarely a saving. Cheaper units are built with thinner tanks and lighter parts, and they don't last. You end up paying for a second system years before you should have.
Real method, not guesswork
Questions first. Every hot water job starts with questions, not tools: what's happening, since when, how many people are in the house and how they use hot water. And you'll know the price of this first step before we touch a thing.
We look your system over. Your plumber checks what's failed and how old the system is, reading it off the label so it's a fact, not a guess. Then they show you what they've found.
Repair or replace, explained. If it's a part and the system has plenty of life left, we'll price the repair. If it's over 10 years old or the tank has gone, we'll tell you why replacing it is the better spend, and price that instead.
The right system for your home. Gas, electric, continuous flow, heat pump or solar: we'll talk you through what suits your house and your budget, from the major brands only, and which rebates you can claim.
Often fixed the same visit. Because we carry systems in our vans, a replacement doesn't have to mean days without hot water. When the right unit is on board, we can fit it there and then.
Tested and handed over. We run it, check it, and show you how it works before we leave.
Through all of it, you only ever face one decision at a time. You'll know what the next step costs before it starts, and nothing proceeds until you're ready.
Three repair options, in writing, before we start
Our rule is a simple one: we only recommend work you'll benefit from. If your system is under 10 years old and the fault is a part, we'll repair it. If it's over 10 years old, putting money into it is usually money you won't get back, and we'll tell you that straight, with the reasons in front of you. When it's time to replace, we fit systems from the major brands and steer clear of the cheaper ones, because they don't last. A system is a 10 to 15 year decision, so we'd rather help you choose once and properly: the right type, the right size for your household, and any rebates you're entitled to. If we've noticed something else along the way, we'll show you that too: priced, in priority order, your call at your pace.
Real prices, in writing, before we touch a thing
A repair and a replacement are two different decisions, and we price them that way: you'll never get one blurred quote covering both. When it's a replacement, you'll see the price of each system that suits your home, installed, before you choose. Every price is agreed before work starts.
Rebates can take a real amount off a new system, especially a heat pump or solar. We'll tell you which ones you're eligible for and help you claim them, so you're not left working it out alone. And if a new system has landed at a bad time, Fix-It Now - Pay Later gives you 12 months with no interest and no repayments.

The boys were wonderful. Very concerned that I understood the process of using them, what was involved in the cost of replacing the broken parts or a new hot water unit. Once the new system was installed, the boys were also very concerned with explaining how it worked. It was also refreshing to have someone concerned with trying to offer options to help ease the pain of a large unexpected bill.

So the bad day never comes
The best time to think about your hot water system is before it stops. Fix-It Right Care Plan members get a home safety inspection every year, and that's a good moment to have your system looked at: how old it is, how the valves are holding up, and whether it's heading towards the end of its life. Knowing that early means replacing it on your schedule, not on a cold morning.
Straight answers, no runaround
If it's under 10 years old and the fault is a part, like a valve, element or thermostat, a repair usually makes sense. Over 10 years, or if the tank itself is leaking, replacing it is the better spend. We'll show you the age and the fault and tell you which we'd choose.
We carry hot water systems in our vans, which most plumbing companies don't. When the right unit for your home is on board, we can often fit it on the first visit rather than leaving you waiting days for one to arrive.
One of the major brands. We install systems from all of them and steer away from the cheaper ones, because they don't last, and a system you have to replace again in a few years is no saving.
Often, yes, especially for a heat pump or solar. We'll tell you what you're eligible for and help you claim it.
Usually that the tank has corroded through, and a tank can't be repaired. Turn the system off and isolate the water if you can, and give us a call. We'll confirm what's failed and price a replacement before anything happens.
This comes with every job we do
$0 call-out. We come out and look things over. If you don't go ahead, you don't pay.
Three repair options. The first gets you out of trouble, the last takes care of everything the whole-home check found, and there's one in between. All of them are proper fixes.
Fixed For Good. Done properly the first time, triple tested before we leave, and backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty.
12 months, no interest, nothing to pay
Get it fixed today, on any job, and make your first payment in a year. It's there because a burst pipe doesn't wait for payday, and neither should the repair.
See how it works*Eligible jobs. Terms, conditions and credit approval apply.
Rough day? A real plumber is a tap away.
