Richie Foster, Fix-It Right Plumbing

Plumbers in Woden, Weston Creek, Phillip and Mawson

Woden and Weston Creek are among Canberra's more established districts, and they're a solid part of our ACT work. From the Phillip town centre through the established suburbs of Mawson and across Weston Creek, we're across the area regularly.

Over the last two years we've done more than 330 jobs around Woden and Weston Creek. A lot of the housing here is from Canberra's earlier decades, mature suburbs with established gardens, which shapes the work we see: blocked drains, hot water and the problems that come with aging pipework.

Those established gardens and older sewer lines make tree roots a real feature of the drain work here, more so than in Canberra's newer districts. When a drain blocks we check whether roots are the cause rather than just clearing it, so it's properly sorted. And with Canberra's cold winters, hot water is a big part of what we do.

That's been the Fix-It Right way since Richie started the business in 2007, and with the amount we work across Woden and Weston Creek, there's a good chance we've got someone nearby.

What local customers say

A very positive experience with Fix it Right Plumbing in upgrading both the sewerage and storm water drainage systems with internal moulded pipes inserted within the existing (and degrading) clay pipes. Jarrad was our primary contact and scoped the source of our problem and put forward possible solutions and costs. Richie (the Boss) from Geelong drove up to Canberra with the very sophisticated equipment to do the job. Then the local Canberra crew joined them for the work. The scope of the work from deconstructing a raised rock garden bed and cutting through a concrete path to access the old pipes in addition to the actual plumbing work was done efficiently and reconstructed perfectly. Such pleasant and professional tradesmen. It was a great pleasure to have them do this extremely complicated work for us.

We recently experienced the unfortunate problem of two major blockages in our underground plumbing system. We called Fix It Right Plumbing, as they had previously serviced our property and were familiar with our plumbing history. On both occasions, Josh attended, and he was outstanding. Josh is an experienced plumber who approaches every challenge with confidence and professionalism. From the initial phone call that morning to let us know he was on his way, he kept us informed throughout the entire process and explained all the work being carried out. While the repairs were expensive, the quality of Josh's workmanship and his forward-thinking approach made it worthwhile. He identified ways to make future maintenance easier and installed additional access points to the plumbing system. Originally, we only had two difficult-to-access inspection points; we now have five, which will make any future plumbing work much more straightforward. Once the job was completed, Josh cleaned everything up thoroughly. You would never have known the extent of the work or the mess that had been there beforehand. I would highly recommend Josh and the team at Fix It Right Plumbing for their professionalism, communication, expertise, and quality workmanship.
Emilia Nedic
Booked a plumber through Fix It Right to come out to deal with two partially blocked toilets. Managed to clear them just a bit prior to the plumber, Josh, arriving. Josh checked the toilets and other taps / drains to give me peace of mind (I was about to leave on a trip!). He was friendly and informative about options. He didn’t even charge me for the visit. I am very grateful.

The same plumber, start to finish

The plumber who comes out and works out what's wrong is the one who fixes it, and he stays with your job from start to finish until it's done properly, top to bottom. We don't send one person to look and another to do the work, and we never pull your plumber off your job to chase the next call. Not many plumbing companies anywhere are that strict about it, and it's why the job gets done right the first time.

Woden & Weston Creek plumbing questions

Why do drains block around Woden and Weston Creek?

Often it's tree roots. These are some of Canberra's more established districts, with mature gardens and older sewer lines, and roots find their way into the joints. We check whether roots are behind a blockage rather than just clearing it, so you're not calling us back about the same drain.

Who's my water authority in Woden?

Icon Water covers Woden, Weston Creek and the rest of the ACT. If the issue is at the meter or the sewer connection at the street, that's their responsibility, and we'll help you work out what's yours and what's theirs before any work starts.

My hot water's gone in Woden, can you sort it quickly?

Usually yes, and it matters with Canberra's cold winters. We carry the common hot water systems in the vans, so if yours can't be repaired we can often have a new one in and running the same day, sized to your household.

My Woden home is older, should I worry about the plumbing?

Not worry, but it's worth knowing. These established suburbs have pipework that's been in a while, so leaks and drain issues come up over time. We use leak detection and drain cameras to find exactly what's going on before we start.

How quickly can you get to Woden?

Quickly, it's one of our regular Canberra areas. We cover Woden, Weston Creek, Phillip and Mawson, plus Stirling, Lyons, Weston, Chifley, Holder, Pearce, Curtin, Garran, Hughes, Farrer and the surrounding suburbs.
