Eltham and the suburbs around it are among Melbourne's most distinctive, leafy, bushy and green, with homes set among the trees on big blocks in the north-east. We work across Eltham, Montmorency and Research, and the bushland setting really shapes the kind of work we see.
Over the last two years we've done more than 50 jobs around Eltham. It's a spread of drains, hot water, taps and leak detection. A lot of the homes here are set back among established gardens and native trees, often on large, sloping blocks, which has a real bearing on the plumbing.
All those trees make drains the standout issue. Eltham is one of the most heavily-treed parts of Melbourne, and roots look for older sewer joints and find them. When we clear a blocked drain around here we check whether roots are the cause, because in these bush blocks they very often are, and clearing without fixing the cause just means it blocks again.

It's the trees. Eltham, Montmorency and Research are some of the leafiest, most heavily-treed suburbs in Melbourne, and roots work their way into older sewer joints. We check whether roots are behind a blockage rather than just clearing it, because out here they very often are.
